The launch of Mandriva Linux 2010

Scheduled for November 3rd, 2009, the new release of Mandriva Linux 2010 offers exceptional innovations. As simple to use as usual, you will find applications such as: KDE 4.3.1, GNOME 2.28, kernel 2.6.31.1, Xorg 1.6.4 RC 1 with the last driver for Intel graphical card. Moblin 2 can be tested on the new Mandriva’s distribution.

Mandriva 2010.0 Release Candidate 1 was released on September 17th (Mandriva’s blog announce).

Fluendo and Mandriva organize a code fest with Mandriva Community

Moovida, Fluendo‘s latest version of open source media center based on Gstreamer’s framework, was launched 4 months ago.

To inaugurate our newly published documentation for developers, we decided to organize a contest in collaboration with Fluendo.

The winners of the contest will be chosen by the community and will be rewarded with the following:

1. Samsung 32” LCD HDTV,
2. LaCie 2-bay RAID NAS,
3. LaCie 1TB HDD.

Participants will be provided with support by the Moovida developers during the 2 months the constest lasts September 23, 2009 to November, 23, 2009.

Interested parties can access the documentation about plugin development and get in touch via Moovida’s mailing list and the #moovida channel on IRC.

Winners will be announced on December 14th, 2009.

Netbook World Summit 2009

After the last year success, the Netbook World Summit 2009 will be held on December 8th, 2009 in Paris at les Salons Latécoère.

The event will gather all key players of the netbook market in a share environment. Some major announcements will be made.

Open World Forum 2009

We are attending the Open World Forum and will be presenting a conference titles: Envisioning the Open desktop of the future.

This conference will be held on October the 1st, 2009, at centre Eurosites Georges V.

Labs projects

XtreemOS 2.0 will be launch at the end of September 2009.

XtreemOS allows management of a computing grid of up to several hundreds of thousands of machines. XtreemOS 2.0 will be available as an installation CD (on a Mandriva 2009.0) and on virtual machines.

You will be able to first test it on an experimental version of KDE4.3 into Mandriva Linux 2010.

We hope to provide real productivity gains by consolidating all the information on a project or task, even if they are in one interface: file, mail, directories, URL of a project, will be shown at you in an unique graphical.
