Google Summer of Code 2010: Student application deadline announced

Google has announced that the deadline for student applications for this year’s Google Summer of Code (GSoC) event is Friday, the 9th of April at 19:00 GMT. Each year Google seeks students and mentors from the FLOSS community to take part in it’s annual GSoC event, which takes place over the period of three months.

The GSoC contests offer stipends to university students to write and develop code for various open source projects. Student developers accepted for the sixth GSoC can chose from more than 150 free and open source software projects and will receive a total of $5,000 from Google for participation in the program (mentoring organisations receive $500). Those interested in applying must be full or part-time students and over 18 years of age by the 26th of April, 2010
