Once Again, Red Hat Tops Expectations

A few months back, when Glyn Moody was pondering the arrival of the first billion dollar open source companies, we expressed confidence that there would be some very big stars among commercial companies focused on open source. Of course, Red Hat has emerged as the leader among U.S.-based public companies focused entirely on open source (Novell remains independent for now, but hasn’t delivered Red Hat’s results). Yesterday afternoon, Red Hat showed once again–after a long string of consistent financial quarters–that it is a force to be reckoned with. The company’s financial results topped expectations.
