Black Duck Software buys Ohloh.net open source software directory

Open source specialist Black Duck Software has announced that it has acquired the Ohloh.net Free and Open Source (FOSS) software directory site from Geeknet, formerly known as SourceForge Inc. Under the terms of the deal, which closed on the 30th of September, Black Duck now owns all of the Ohloh property and assets. The company says that it plans to combine the site with its Koders.com portal to “establish a comprehensive, free resource for developers to find, create, use and manage FOSS”, making it “a single premier web destination that developers can turn to as a trusted source of FOSS knowledge”.
