Mozilla Reaches Out for Help with its New License

Mozilla is calling for help in its effort to update its open source license to version 2.0, after more than a decade spent with an older version. You can find documentation and a call for your input at the Beta 1 Draft page for MPL 2.0. To comment, you can use Mozilla’s dedicated Comments tool. There are big differences between how Mozilla and other open source players–such as Apache–approach licenses. Here is some of what’s new with Mozilla’s early stab at its new version.

Mozilla’s online discussion of the new version 2.0 of the MPL, which updates the previous version 1.1, pronounces it essentially “feature complete,” but the company is seeking comments and won’t yet finalize the new version.
