Ten Thousand Villages Site Wins IMA Award with Help from CorraTech and Magento

Ten Thousand Villages, one of the world’s largest fair trade organizations, was one of three sites to win the Interactive Media Awards’ highest honor, the “Best in Class” award. Designed and implemented by Magento Gold Solution Partner CorraTech and powered by Magento Enterprise, the site scored 481 points out of a possible 500, covering five key categories: design, content, feature functionality, usability, and standards compliance / cross-browser compatibility.

The Ten Thousand Villages site was designed to extend the reach and visibility of their artisans’ products, which include unique handmade gifts, jewelry, home décor, art and sculpture, and personal accessories from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. At the same time, the site is meant to serve and support the needs of their network of retail outlets.

CorraTech, a leading provider of eCommerce and multichannel solutions, had helped another client win the prestigious award in 2010. Their experience with Magento Enterprise has made Magento their go-to platform for the kinds of challenges faced by clients like Ten Thousand Villages.

The result of this award-winning partnership is a beautiful site that features multimedia connections to the artisans and their one-of-a-kind products, seamlessly integrating them into a state-of-the-art eCommerce site that can compete effectively with other powerful commercial sites, while also supporting a strong retail channel throughout the U.S. and Canada.
